Kauai: Waimea canyon and snorkeling with turtles

For the first day in Kauai we did the lazy tourists and simply stopped at a viewpoint in Waimea Canyon without hiking any bit. The canyon is quite as impressive and Grand Canyon:

We then stopped at one of the snorkeling spots on the south shore of the island with some unusually colorful trees on the way:

What would Hawaii be without its splendid surfers?

There were plenty of colorful fishes nearby:

The spot we chose was known for the frequent presence of turtles, we were lucky to spot at least three of them:

We stayed at the Outrigger Waipouli Beach Resort & Spa, the hotel was top notch, and decently priced considering that we were 5 sharing a two bedroom apartment:
