Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) is in the Bangkok Yai district next to the west bank of the Chao Phraya river. If you are on the other side it is way faster to simply cross the river by boat rather than trying to reach it by car, as the latter could take you an hour instead of just couple minutes by boat.
A friend and I visited the Kanchanburi province and stopped at the bridge on the river Kwai, this was a warm day at just 44 degrees Celsius…
This floating market located 60 miles west of Bangkok was called one of the few ‘unspoiled’ markets by the touristic guide I purchased in the US.
Unfortunately if you arrive past 9am this market is as touristic as it gets. So, if you really want to enjoy it you should come as early as possible (before 8 am) when only locals might be present.
Ampawa is quiet and peaceful in the morming and progressively transforms into a hectic market flooded by tourists by late afternoon. We stayed overnight at the Thanicha Guest House which was comfortable enough with a cosy atmosphere.
Wat Bang Kung (Tree Temple) is a temple in the province of Samut Songkhram, as it was left abandoned the jungle ended covered it entirely.
On my first day in Thailand I visited Samut Songkhram about 50 miles south west of Bangkok. One oddity was a day market installed on the railroad. Trains pass by several times a day and merchants manage to remove and put back their products in no time.
This is not a touristic market and you certainly won’t see many foreigners as this is mostly about fresh fruits, fish, and meat. I have to question the freshness given that it was about 35 degrees Celsius on that day.
